Time to start the transformation!

So it times to start the transformation. We of course can't take the popup tailgating in her original attire. Its time to dress this baby up for the ball. The fiberglass top had several holes in it that were addressed by the previous owner with a version of flex tape. That had to go and the holes treated with a more permanent repair.

The gang decided that we needed a new paint color and guess what we decided to go with black and gold the color of our beloved owls. Hooty hoo. So while the holes on top were addressed this is still a very old fiberglass top that needed to have a better repair/finish then paint from a rattle can. Options were weighed from quotes to having it professional painted to doing the job ourselves.

At the end of the day it was decided to go with a product called Monstaliner. I'm sure most of you have heard of Line-X. This product is similar but in my opinion and others, Monstaliner is a far superior product and can by applied by roll on, giving a very professional look without paying a professional to do it.

So Monstaliner will give us the thickness, strength, and waterproofness we need for this old girl. Now time to de-grease and de-crud the top. Fun times.
